Valentines (again)

The season of love. It’s upon us again. I look forward to the time that this holiday doesn’t remind me of heartache and pain. Trust me, I really want to be emotionally past the heartache, but I am not. If anything, this year is more difficult than last year.

Love. In college I had to take a final class to graduate and I had two choices, what is love or what is death? I chose love. It’s such an interesting topic because what exactly is love? Can you define it? There’s many different types. There’s love for a family member, love for a romantic partner, love for a friend, love for children, love for our planet, love for our fur kids, and possibly the most important love, love for oneself.

Let’s delve in…

We are social creatures and we observe and learn from one another. We especially learn from our parents and siblings. This isn’t always a good thing. The foundation we grew up from has a serious impact on how we love others as adults. When we were kids falling in love we made a lot of mistakes. We hurt others, we get hurt and we took solitude in things like music. I know music played a big part in how I dealt with heartache as a teenager. The lyrics jumped out at me as they sung about love and expressed the feelings I was feeling. It’s still true today, right? There’s a Kelly Clarkson song called “My Mistake” that describes exactly how I feel. Every. Single. Lyric.

So, just because I’m not in an overly romantic headspace, doesn’t mean that you aren’t. My hope for you is that you are surrounded by those you love and that you tell them so each and every day, not just on Valentine’s Day. Pick up the phone, write that email, mail that card, even if it will be late and let someone you love know that you are thinking about them. I promise you, it makes a difference. You have the power to change someone’s day, week, or even year with just a little kindness.

As for me, I am going to play pickleball tomorrow night. I’m going to cuddle with my fur kids and eat some homemade food. It will be lovely.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at the Pop Up Valentine Market last weekend. Those that joined us shopped and made multiple trips to their cars to drop off stuff they purchased. That’s how you do it!!

On the festival front, I have a meeting next week to discuss Colorado Vegfest and we are actively looking for a location for Bend, OR to happen over the summer. You know I will keep you posted.

If you are looking to host a festival/event and you don’t know where to start or you need help, well you know who to call and it’s not Ghostbusters! I’m for hire to help you create and bring an incredible event/festival to life.

Happy Valentines friends. I’m wishing you a loving and wonderful week.
