I realized something today (with the help from a mentor). I’ve been very emotional over the past few weeks. You know, the type of emotional where you cry over commercials. The tears would well up and I would let them flow. The mentor helped me recognize that my emotional plate is close to full or full. I need a release, aka I need to seek out counseling. The state of the world, the killing of innocent people by our government and the feeling of my hands being tied and at the same time thinking about what I would do if they came to my door, has me as an emotional mess.
If you follow the Vegfest Expos social media, you’ve been seeing stories shared by us that are highlighting the brutality and the important stance of (as far as I am concerned) being on the correct side of history.
None of this is okay. Have you thought about what you would do if they came knocking on your door? Your neighbors door? As much as you potentially don’t like guns, I have guns in my home. I have my permit to have one. I just hope it doesn’t come down to needing to use it.
The fight to save the planet and the animals is daunting enough without adding people getting murdered for protesting (or their car being in the wrong place or directing traffic). Reporters shouldn’t be arrested for reporting the news.
Oh my gosh, it’s a lot.
Today there was a protest. People didn’t go to work. Kids didn’t go to school. Businesses closed for the day. Many local businesses in the Raleigh area posted that they remained open but still support the cause. They just couldn’t afford to close. We’ve had some awful weather and we are expecting inches of snow to come overnight tonight. In the south, snow shuts everything down, even an inch of snow.
I’ve been preaching to shop small and to shop local. Let’s put those words into action. When you need/want something, search out who makes it and give them your hard earned dollars. It has always been important, but likely now more than ever.
Stay safe. Stay warm. Have a good week.
