First, Statesville is coming up on March 1. It’s our first health and fitness expo. What does that mean? During the event there will be health and fitness classes presented by the Vegan Squad Coaching team led by John The Body Building Vegan Thomas. How fun, right? Combine that with the food, the shopping, the awesome DJ, the free face painting, and you have the makings of a fabulous day.
On a deeper note, let’s talk about the value of counseling and why it’s something you might want to consider in your life.
I’m looking at all of you who feel deep pain for the animals. Activists that say goodbye to the pigs before they go to slaughter. The ones that have to make choices when they rescue and know they are leaving others behind to a fate of an early death. Animal rights activists are incredible human beings. Often the need to help the animals stems from internal issues that are not resolved. When you put yourself into a situation that is high stress and emotion, it can take its toll. This is where counseling comes in. It’s important to take care of your own mental health so you’re able to continue to fight for the animals. I’ve seen way too many lose their way or have to stop because they didn’t focus on themselves. The animals need us to be mentally healthy so we can continue to make a difference.
Counseling in general is a great thing too. If you’re having relationship struggles, job issues, and/or the politics of the world are weighing heavy, speaking to an impartial person is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
I’ve always been a fan of counseling. It’s why I am happy to share that I have (finally) found a counselor and I am meeting with her on a weekly basis. It was time. I need to shed all this emotional turmoil so I can move forward and do the things I want and need to do. To be the best me and the healthiest me possible. I feel I have exhausted my self shrinking and that the time was right to take this next step.
Often I will share things, and when I do share it comes from a place of love and understanding. It’s like with vegfest, everything it involves is something that I would do and I would never ask someone to do things that I wouldn’t do or couldn’t do. It doesn’t mean I like all of it, but that’s any job right? It’s the same with counseling. I am coming from a place of love and caring. If this can help just one person, then that’s a good enough for me.
In my meeting today this quote came up, “You don’t want to be better, you want to be different”. With difference comes success and with mental health you can have both.
Have a great week. I hope you had a lovely Valentines and shared it with those you love, and that includes yourself!
